i always make a portrait for myself when i’m working.
brandon tesh is a talented musician and composer based in new york. we braved the nc heat back in july to do a portrait session at governor’s school, where brandon is part of the music faculty. (fun fact: brandon and i first met at governor’s school when we were both counselors. it’s great to see colleagues pursue their passions-and even greater when i get to photograph them!)
paste magazine recently gave us 9 reasons why this is the year of the saxophone. in case you were wondering, brandon is the number 10 reason.

i had a huge crush on brandon when we worked together four years ago. i don’t know how i end up in so many working relationships with guys i’ve liked, but i feel a vague sense of irony and sadness. i’m working on a rewrite of reality bites that explores this.
the calm during the storm.
slept in saturday, watched mad men all day while cleaning and organizing stuff. stopped for a minute to take these photos. the storm was beautiful in durham.
